One of my college friends, Rin, is going to be joining Genkan Gakuen. I know she journal roleplays but I've never journal roleplayed with her. She's a very good writer though. And I just miss roleplaying with her even though we played D&D. And I'll never forget the day she defended the actions of one of my hardest characters to play ever in the OOC. Malik was a lawful neutral fighter and a very black and white thinker (something that is hard for me to play because I am very much not). Lawful Neutral in D&D is someone who follows their own rules to a t but they're not necessary good or evil. Malik followed the Code of Hammurabi. >.> Eye for an Eye. But Rin liked my character a lot and got just as annoyed as i did when people knocked him for being too stubborn. And when I had to leave her game, Rin turned my character into a bad guy but not a OMG BAD GUY but more of a conflict bad guy. Malik had a BIG ASS SWORD which it got to the point Rin just said, "Just roll and let me know if you get a 1."
Then when we played together, Rhys and Kalick was such a fun relationship. They hate-loved each other. Kalick was all... eww half-elf and Rhys was all ewww elves (he hated elves). But they grew to be brother and sister in arms. I'm so happy she's going to join.
But because of that, I got thinking of D&D which I haven't played in fifty billion years. So I propose a meme... even if I'm the only one who does it. I will make my chars' D&D stats and then choose a class for them. If you want, you can be part of the meme and comment with a character and I will figure their stats for you!
For the record, 10 is average, 20 is high, 0 means you're useless.
STR: Strength, self explanatory DEX: Dexterity, which is flexibility CON: Constitution or Health INT: Intelligence or book smarts WIS: Wisdom or common sense (when I DM when someone is about do something really stupid, I'd ask them to make a wisdom check) CHA: Charisma
( I ROLLED A ONE! )

OMG! I had to come home and take pictures to post up right away. Simon, Devon, and I all just got back from a little outing. We went to dinner, to see a movie, which was adorable (Horton Hears a Who), and then we topped it off with a trip to Build-A-Bear Workshop. And this was what prompts the need for pictures.
So Simon totally made a ballerina bear for Bump when she gets here. And Devon made himself a pirate bear. And if that isn't adorable enough, Devon made me a girl pirate bear that matches his. Isn't that the sweetest thing you have EVER HEARD?
I love that little boy so much. He totally owns my heart! And now he's laying in my bed, curled up with his little bear, sound asleep, with my bear on the pillow next to his head. It's almost enough to make a girl swoon.
Private to Fisher Change of plans. I think I'm going to try to talk my father into moving to Boston instead. I don't really want to be so far away from Devon. Besides, I promised James I would help him out and I can't really do that if I go back to New York.
And there I go... changing my mind again. Go figure!

I haven't felt like this in a long, long time. I think this is what those people doused in sunlight call "optimism".

So edmee brought up a good subject that I would like to discuss a little.
Edmee discussed about the American culture and how Americans seem like they want to reach back and grab something from their ancestory and usually fail somehow. I thought she made a lot of great points. You are removed from the country and your culture evolved away from that. Irish-American is vastly different than regular Irish for instance. That is just like if you isolate any group. Different types of culture evolve. But soon people don't even pronounce the names correctly (showing the culture change) etc.
I know some people get really irritated when someone proclaims they are a certain ethnicity, Americans are the most guilty of it. I think Americans are just seeking for an identity because diversity is what we are as a nation.
But there are a few things I noticed in the replies that i thought were interesting. One is people left their countries so they're no longer apart of it. Yes, that to a degree is true. My great-grandparents left Ireland because they were Protestant in a predominantly Catholic nation and decided to screw it. Some people's ancestors or some people did not CHOOSE to leave their countries but they had to for safety reasons. I hate reaching back but I have a Scottish ancestor who fought in the British Civil War and was caught and told he had the choice of death or colonies (SUCH A HARD CHOICE). I'm SURE he loved his country of Scotland very much. People probably pass that love of the home culture to their children.
I find it very true with groups that consider themselves part of a diaspora. They're strongly attached to their culture and consider themselves part of an ethnic group. I think of the Kurds which is the largest ethnic group in the world without a country for instance.
Then I think about this one incident that happened at my last unit. My friend Sanchez was arguing with this girl Nelson. Nelson is half-Japanese but doesn't speak a word of Japanese and her first name is Christine etc. Her mother left Japan mainly because she wanted to. She disliked the country of origin and fully became American. Sanchez is Puerto Rican. I asked Sanchez later why they were arguing. Sanchez said, "Nelson is half-Japanese but doesn't know a word of the language! That is insulting to her background! I speak Spanish. I taught my children Spanish and they will teach their kids Spanish! It is my heritage and my culture." I joked and said, "So by your logic I should be fluent in French, Italian, Scots, Irish, Welsh, and Heron?" And he said with a straight face, "yes." I always found that conversation interesting because why shouldn't you be proud of your heritage? American culture is about diversity and celebrating diversity.
Perhaps it is best to say, "I have Irish ancestory" or whatever rather than Irish. It is a connection. Maybe not a strong connection but it is there. I know it is easy for people to say, "You're an American. That's it." I think that is stretching it a little bit. I'm sure when your ancestors first came to America, they still considered a part of them from the country they're from and probably tried to pass it down to their children. It got watered down a little and blended which is what the American culture is, but I think it is a little unfair for people to dismiss that distant connection. But at the same time, I think people should be proud to be an American, despite the fucktards from our country (I often found it amusing when I stayed in hostiles, people were shocked to see an American and complimented my politeness). We're the nation of outcasts... the lunch table in the cafeteria at school that all the non-conformists sat and made room for you if you wanted it. Those kids were the cool kids.

I do not need another character. Sophia is a TEASE and said we can extend the limit to five after input. Also, gais, people tell me I need to sleep cuz I have night shift tonight.
I originally tossed around an idea for GG of a military brat auror. But I could not get him to be so he didn't cross personalities with my other characters.
Then I came across this pb and I suddenly want to play a Filipino. People like never play them and it makes me sad since their culture is fascinating. I just feel our Amaterasu house is very top heavy. Meaning a whole lot of purebloods.
So I had this idea of a Filipino muggle who is a domestic worker in Japan meets this married pureblood Japanese wizard. They have a hot and heavy fling. They decide to split when she gets pregnant but not before he gives her a huge amount of money to keep quiet. She uses the money to open up a highly successful cleaning business (partly helped by an older couple who are to cover owners. She really runs it all) and to raise her son. She tells him stories about how his father is a wizard but he always just thinks it is his mother's way of making him feel okay that he doesn't have a father. Boy grows up, often runs into trouble because he's Filipino. Probably been falsely accused of shoplifting and picked on by the police a lot. I think he had a cousin who may have been killed in a gang fight or something like that which highly shaped who he became. He probably decided he never wanted to get into that so he'll probably strongly dislike Nao and Hitoshi. He wants to sincerely help people and probably got into volunteer work here and there with his church (yes, lets make him Catholic) When he got sent off to school, he has this huge complex to prove himself worthy and to find his mysterious father. He soon decides that the best way to help people is to be an auror. That is his goal.
SOme other things about his personality.
-He's fluent in sarcasm (and also Japanese and Tagalog) -He likes video games, karaoke, dancing, and singing but more in to fuck around than to be serious. He adores rap and R&B -I've decided his patronus is an iguana. Why? BECAUSE I SAY SO! -He has a morbid curiosity and a strong stomach. -Dude, don't fuck with the ladies. He has a huge problem with people like Shojiai. I wouldn't call him a flirt, but I think he prefers the company to girls to guys. I see it being his mother, her friends, and probably a couple of younger aunts growing up -Due to his morbid curiosity, he's in the occult club. -He has a quick temper but he seriously tries to keep it in check. -He has family everywhere. No, seriously. EVERY. WHERE. And he'll hook you up with connections. -He believes in being truthful but unlike Ming, he'll be diplomatic about it.
bah I should really go back to nap.
